1024 x 1024 = 1,048,576 bytes

1000 x 1000 = 1,000,000 bytes

To convert from MiB to MB, multiply by 1,048,576 / 1,000,000 = 1.048576

To convert from MB to MiB, divide by 1.048576.

Example:

500MB = 476.6 MiB

GiB and GB
